Welcome to my GMC Motorhome Site!
My name is Shawn, and this is going to be my 3rd GMC Motorhome. I really think these are the best built coaches out there...Geez, I guess they have to be considering...
They were built in the years
1973 through 1978, and out of approximately 13,000 made, roughly 8-9000 are
still running today.
Parts are readily available from many different companies.
FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) states the GMC Motorhome has THE highest
number of clubs for a RV of its type.
How far ahead of it's time
the coach was... Low ride height, air suspension on the rear, front wheel drive,
aerodynamic styling that looks good even today...and top it off with excellent
fuel economy for this class of vehicle.
Considering this is going to be my third GMC, I am going to be doing a few projects to it, and I will be taking pictures and posting them to this site. There may even be a few powerpoints thrown in for good measure as well. The links to those will be at the bottom of this page.
I know what I am forgetting... I want to show you my new baby, so here she is...I will give you a little bit of information on her, at least as much as I know...

For the moment, its all white... I am thinking to keep with the interior, that there will be some stripes or ribbons, more than likely in a shade of blue and silver. This shot was taken at the GMC Co-op. The Co-op is run by a teriffic guy named Jim Bounds. His knowledge of these coaches in unbelievable, and all of my dealings with him have been above board, and the work is done right. By all means click on his site and look around, the information there is priceless.
My GMC is a 1973, and it started life as a 23' coach, I believe it was a Sequoia model. I purchased the coach off a wonderful couple, Mike and Claudia Hennessey, who had planned on traveling in the coach, but unforseen circumstances resulted in plans having to be changed. My thoughts and thanks will remain with them.
I think what really sold me over on the coach was the interior. Unlike any other I have seen in a 23' coach. It was laid out exactly how I wanted it. I was hooked.

Flexsteel seats and new blue carpet and leather wrapped dash...New windshields too make up the front driver area. Its wonderful. The Kenwood stereo pumps out the tunes for those road trips. Remember, in a GMC, especially a 23', you can take it to the store to go shopping if you want. My son Jeremey thinks its like a van on steroids! Something I didnt know until I picked her up, was that there was a custom tool and parts box built into the floor. You can see it there...someones hand is on it...Good place to keep some necessary parts for the road...In case.

In this shot, you can see the flexsteel fold a bed, the counter and sink, and off to the back, the table and another bed. Mini Blinds are on each window, and the walls are all done in a cool blue fabric. The main water tanks are gone, since the shower has been eliminated (campgrounds have those) and the only thing that holds water are blue tanks under the cabinets, which can easily be removed and filled. There is sorage in the cabinets above and below the counter. Flouresent thinlites abound in the coach, there are 10 of them...

The table of course, is removable and the origional jack-knife bed are freshly recovered (and repadded). Under the one on the right, is the Onan 4KW Power Drawer and its battery. Under the left one is more storage.

I always wanted a full size fridge in a 23' coach, now my wish has come true! The item that looks like a microwave is really a microwave, broiler, oven convection unit. You can toss a pot pie in here and either nuke it, or use the oven feature. I have never seen one of these before in my life. Its awesome. The door you see is the toilet. There is no shower in there, just the toilet. Its flushing water comes from the same type of blue jugs that are used on the sink. Talk about easy winterization...just remove them. Under that oven is a very deep cabinet, perfect for storing food. The waste tank, however is a smaller one, and it works as most do...Oh well... Interestingly enough, with the main sewer tank gone from under the coach, there is room down there for a "onan only" fuel tank...Hmmmm...

When I said there were a ton of thinlites, I wasn't kidding...This baby lights up better on the inside than a Southwest 737! The roof AC works quite well too. There is still a furnace in the coach, it resides beside the toilet, and has heat ducts in various places in the coach...The front one is cleverly disquised as a stereo speaker, as is the intake vent.

The wheels are apparently American Racing wheels. Jim Bounds is a little worried about hub centering, and apparently these wheels use lug centering. I smell a set of Alcoa wheels in the future. Also, there is a roadmaster antenna on the roof, and also a maxxair powervent. The powervent will be removed as will the sunroof that is there, in favor for a fantastic fan. All the marker lights will be replaced as well.
In a nutshell, thats my new baby. I hope you like her. I know we do.

I want to do something unique here. I have a page or two dedicated to my coach, but the idea of this site is not to just show mine off. How about yours? If you would like a page, feel free to send me some pictures and descriptions and I will take care of the rest. Sort of the the old "Coach and Owner" from the GMC motorhome marketplace, but online. I think it would be great to have different coaches and the things their owners have done to them, here for everyone to see. Heck, I'll even give contributers a GMC Motorhome World email address. If you would rather contribute a story of a tech tip, those are most welcome as well. Just click on the email link at the bottom of the page, and send away!
Dave Greenberg has a national GMC registry, and he is keeping records of what coaches are still running and where, and who owns them now. If you pick up a GMC, or didnt know of the registry, PLEASE be sure to go to the link below and register your GMC with him. Even in your travels, if you see one sitting behind a shed somewhere, try to get the VIN off it and the location too. All this is a big help in getting them all tracked down!
Below is a guestbook, and I would really appreciate it if you could sign it. I love knowing who has been here!
