Side Docking Light Installation

I decided after looking at many HIGH $$$ coaches, that docking lights would be a nice touch. Sometimes it can be a real pain to pull into a campsite late at night, especially when you can't see where you are backing up to. This problem can be solved with side docking lights.

The ones I chose came from a mid 90's Chrysler New Yorker. These are plentiful in the junkyard for some reason, and the lights fit real nicely into the "T" skirts.

Here they sit beside my trusty air tools.

I plan on wiring each side independently of the other, but they will both be able to be lit together as well. I am going to order a nice on/off switch from our company, and install that in the lower dash panel. I will revisit this install to complete it at a later date. For now we will mount them in their respective location.

I chose to mount them 4" down from the body seam of the "T" skirt, then centered them. Some of you may feel that it is a hard thing to slice holes in the side of the coach. It is easy, with the proper tools and measurements.

Here is the cut hole...

This is roughed in at this point, thats why it may seem a little off. Upon completion, you can test fit the outer lens as shown below.

Then all thats left is to mount the bigger piece in from the back of the skirt, install the 2 nuts, and that part of the job is complete.

Here are two pictures of the completed job.

Step 2 to come very soon, stay tuned!
