Hard Starting Issues
A problem cold or hot...
My coach had a issue with starting. It would crank extremely slow and would take a little while to start. Using the battery boost switch really made it kick. On the advice of fellow GMC'ers on the GMC Net Forums several ideas were suggested, by people who have owned these coaches a lot longer than myself.
Some ideas were about battery connections, and possibly dirty connections, bad starter, out of time, and so on and so forth. By the way, If you are not aware of the forum and you own a GMC, it is a great idea to join!
Lets start with the battery cables.
as you can see in the picture below, my cables are not excessively large. My guess is 6 or 9 gauge.

I have seen cars with much larger cables than my coach has. This in itself could be a problem. We are going to start by replacing the ground. I noticed no ground from the block to the battery. Every car I have ever owned has had that. Lets do that first. The picture below shows the place I chose for the hookup. It is the bolt on the back of the AC compressor mount on the intake. That should be more than adequate.

I also found that the wires on the battery solenoid selector and the battery positive post are corroded. They will be taken off and cleaned. May as well do them all. I may rewire the whole thing at the bus garage (if I can use it) one day, as I prefer to use connectors that are weatherproof under the hood.

As soon as the weather decides to see things my way, I can complete this...
