Adding Stainless Engine Side Vents

If you want to add something to your coach that looks good, and actually helps to remove engine heat, then these engine vents are the ticket for you!

I bought my vents from Jim Bounds while I was in Florida. These are quality vents and were so easy to install.

Now, follow along as we install them...

First, you have to get the tools necessary, which were the cutter wheel, the air saw, a cordless drill with a phillips bit, and 8 self tapping screws. Oh, and a tape measue and a pencil as well.

The first stap is to make your measurements. I did mine as follows...

I measured out from the top of the rub rail (the black strip with the side marker) down to 4 1/4" and then from the body seam by the door 3 1/2. This will put it in the proper position to make the cut. It should look like this...

Then comes the hard part... cutting into the body of the coach. After the pencil marks are in place, you can take out the cut off wheel, and make 4 small cuts, which you can see on top of the pencil lines. This will be the guide for the air saw.

Here is the air saw and the cut off wheel.

When the hole is complete, it should look like this.

I smoothed mine out with the flat part of the cut off wheel. Then you simply place the vent into the hole and using the 4 self tapping screws, simply tighten them in place. Done with side one!

Follow the same proceedure for the other side. I did the whole job in well under a hour, start to finish.

You can really feel the heat coming out of these when the engine is running. A inexpensive investment, and a aid in cooling the engine.
